DRUG CONTROL PROGRAM UPDATE

with, David Johnson
Director, Prescription Monitoring Program
Massachusetts Department of Public Health

David Johnson is leading the implementation of the e-prescribing mandate for all prescriptions which is set for January 1, 2020 as per Chapter 208 of the ACTS of 2018. The Department of Public Health has issued new regulations 105 CMR 721 which are manded to go into effect on January 1, 2020 and will impact all prescriptions prescribed in the Commonwealth and be phased in over the next 12 months. Prescribers who do not comply with this mandate may face sanctions unless they are issued a waiver by DPH. This is not just for narcotics but impacts all medications which effects all companies' products.

We hope to see you at the final Health Council meeting of 2019.
