Atrius Health has long been a member and strong supporter of the MHC and its century-long work to improve and protect the public health in the Commonwealth. Like the MHC, Atrius Health is committed to the core principals of the MHC focusing on prevention and wellness, access to care, health care quality, cost and health equity. The Council continues to bring together its members and all stakeholders to advocate for better health for all members of our society, and we hope that all Massachusetts organizations join the Council to support its important work.
If the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us anything, it's that racial and ethnic disparities in health and health care have real consequences and can shorten the lives of those who are impacted by this form of institutional racism. That's why the work of the Massachusetts Health Council to establish health equity is so critically important.
MHC is the place where people and organizations interested in all aspects of health and health care can come together to better the health of the Commonwealth and its people.
At a time when health care systems are prioritizing social determinants of health, the Health Council is at the forefront of the ideas, policies, and programs that foster real health in our communities.
Squarely focused on creating a culture of health, the Health Council is an invaluable partner. Reducing youth smoking rates and sugary drink consumption are some of the areas where the Council is persistent and effective with education, advocacy and policy.
The unique value of the Mass Health Council is that it convenes such a diverse group of stakeholders in Massachusetts healthcare – from employers and trade associations to healthcare providers and patient advocacy groups. The Council’s goal of “creating a culture of health” unites us all in the movement to improve health and wellness across our Commonwealth
Participating in the Massachusetts Health Council has provided Commonwealth Care Alliance® with valuable insights on emerging healthcare trends and has enabled us to share the work we are doing to address the complex medical and behavioral health needs of our members with other health care professionals.
We value being a part of this diverse coalition of businesses and nonprofit organizations focused on improving the health of the Commonwealth. As we continue to make great strides, and face new obstacles, the Massachusetts Health Council is a necessary voice for health access, prevention, and community empowerment.
A lesson I learned painfully, to get anything done, you need to build a coalition. The Massachusetts Health Council is a great coalition builder and a convener of lots of folks.
We at the Mass League, along with our 52 members across the state and on behalf of our over one million patients, deeply appreciate and value the work of the Massachusetts Health Council. For over a century, MHA has been the convener and champion for all those in the Commonwealth who envision a healthier state that embraces prevention, wellness and equity .
MHC has been a key convener during the COVID-19 pandemic. Long before vaccines were available, they were working to identify inequities in vaccine communication and access. BPHC is proud to be a partner with MHC to combat these inequities by bringing culturally responsive vaccination events to Boston neighborhoods and populations most impacted by the pandemic.
At a time when health care systems are prioritizing social determinants of health, the Health Council is at the forefront of the ideas, policies, and programs that foster real health in our communities.
The Massachusetts Health Council’s focus on prevention and wellness initiatives aligns with MAHP’s mission of making health care affordable, containing costs for employers and consumers, and improving the health of all citizens in the Commonwealth.
Convening such a diverse group of health leaders inspires me every day to work toward our goal of creating a culture of health.
